⊰☼⊱ ; She hadn’t even realized he had the hot water in his hand when she had so selfishly pulled onto his shirt. And there it goes — splashing onto his chest, twisted features in turn at the obvious pain she must have caused him, followed by a rather .. unique form of expressing his distaste towards the situation.
” Nn — oh no! I’m — I’m sorry! I .. ” Hands thrown up, waving frantically, but she hardly gets a chance to speak — he’s already ripped off his shirt and ran back into another room. Quick to escape — maybe if he hadn’t run off as fast as he could have, it only would have ended in disaster. He, surely, must be livid with her at this point — first yelling at him, and now spilling hot water on him because she’s an absolute fucking child and can’t handle a thunderstorm, of all things.
She’s not even paying attention to whatever it is he’s calling from the bathroom. A mumble of something or other, she hears his voice, but it’s masked — again — by a crash of thunder, comparable to metal pots and pants falling simultaneously from the cabinets and scattering across tiled flooring; echoing through kitchen acoustics. That’s what it sounds like — and she’s frozen still while soft light flashes and casts across her silhouette. Purples, whites, blues — spiderwebs spiraling across the sky while the wind’s rushing against his window sill and the water’s switching back and forth in the direction that it pours.
She doesn’t even notice that he’s walked back into the room and started talking to her. The blankets on the floor, collected at her feet, and one finger hooks on her bottom lip in deep contemplation while her other arm hands loosely at her side. Thinking, now, about what a fool she is — surely, he must think she’s so pitiful. And she wonders, now, if after tonight, he will still feel the same way about her that he has previously.
” I’m .. ” Mumbled beneath her finger tips, she then drops her hand and lowers her head; gaze fixed on the floor. Apologizing, aimlessly, to him — without knowing he’s standing in front of her, while there’s a flash of crystal in the corner of her eyes, quickly followed by the taste of salt against her lips. ” I’m .. I’m s- sorry. I — I didn’t .. “
Miku is crying.
He’s never seen her cry. Not even when she was so distraught on White Day. It’s so shocking that for a moment all he can do is stare, his heart breaking apart into two panicked pieces. Miku is crying, and he’s staring like an idiot, not doing anything for her. He springs to life in jerky movements.

❄~ “Darling. Darling …”
A gentle coo. He remembers how much she enjoyed being called that, and while he doesn’t think it will do much good, in this situation, such an adored nickname couldn’t hurt. He reaches up gently, hands resting gently against her shoulders. Offering his arms for an embrace, but not enfolding her until he’s sure that is what she wants. He doesn’t want to make the situation worse.
❄~ “It’s alright … It’s okay …”
Whatever minor injury he sustained is forgotten in the wake of her tears, a pale imitation of the rain that crashes outside. He holds her gently, as if she were made of glass. A hand reaches up to stroke her hair gently, so gently.
He can’t help comparing this to how he held her the last time they say each other, how hands longed to run through her hair and wound up all over her. Strange, even rude to have such thoughts, but he’s not thinking them lustfully. He only wishes to see that smile again.
“ I’m so happy! ”
That’s what she had said, but she isn’t happy now. Not even a little bit. He knows was silly, to feel so obligated towards her happiness, but he can’t help it. All he wants, all he’s ever wanted from the beginning, is to see her smile.
